We are readying the field for Cabbage and Potato plantings. Eggplant, peppers, flowers, tomatoes and some cucumbers are all getting ready in the greenhouse.

It is freezing outside! Not in the greenhouse though. We finally got the heater all hooked up after some trial and error. We have cabbages and eggplants on their way out of dormancy along with some flowers and herbs. It is going to be a great spring! The compost technique is coming to fruition showing promising heat activity. The temp topped out at 154 this weekend. Temperatures this high can help kill of weed seeds and soil born pathogens as well as pests. Aeration and arrangement have proven to be essential in getting this right. Not all compost needs to get this hot to break down, but doing so can be very beneficial.
